Journey Martial Arts started the way a lot of good things do, out of necessity. When our previous school closed, we didn't want to just find another place to train. We wanted to build one, on our own terms, the kind of school we'd always wished existed. So co-owners Stevie Kinnear and Mike Carpenter opened Journey Martial Arts in Sandy, and set out to build a place where every student, regardless of age, athletic background, or how long they've been training, is treated as someone genuinely on their way somewhere.

We mean it when we say everyone belongs here. Not as a slogan. As a description of who actually walks through our doors: total beginners in their forties starting their first sport since high school, four-year-olds testing for their first stripe, families training side by side, teenagers who started as shy white belts and are now helping teach the class behind them.
